A Word from the President about the National Happiness Index

This post was inspired by this recent article from NPR

"..every month, a single unemployment number is released. Unemployment is now 7.9 percent. And, right now, a panel is looking to come up with a similar number for happiness. Someday soon, we may start hearing news reports about how U.S. happiness is rising. Or falling."

A Brief Word from the President

Citizens. Dear citizens. Don't be alarmed by the recent trend of high unemployment. Yes, many of you are out of work. Yes, many of you feel like you have too much time on your hands. But, are these real problems? Or are they just psychological? Are they just in your head? Before you take to the polls and vote for the guy or gal that's going to "put you back to work," decide for yourself if, in fact, you really want to go back.

We are reaching a threshold, my fellow citizens. We are reaching a break wall. A point where our ingenuity can decide for us how we want to proceed, not our fear. The see-saw of humanity is tipping over to the positive my friends. Our basic rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are, in fact, not given to us by god, but instead by our trusty machines. No, I lie, they are given to us by our own minds, our own imaginations, and entrusted to our robotic disciples.

So when you hit the polls, ask yourself whether you want a president who puts you back to work, or one who lifts that burden off of you and places it onto someone, or rather, some thing else. God bless America. God bless the machines.
